Much cheaper to move to Linux or 11 in the long run. Less confusion.

Sounds like a good way of forcing everybody onto the newest version as rapidly as possible.....

(*shrug...*)

But Linux IS an excellent option nowadays, and is far simpler to use than many still think. The days of doing everything through the command-line are now so far behind us it isn't even worth discussing any more. Many new users find they can do everything via point-and-click GUIs.....and many never go anywhere near the terminal (unless they WANT to).

It definitely warrants serious consideration.

Even if and when Windows 10 Extended Security Updates are available for home users like me, I will NOT purchase and use it because, by October 14, 2025, my current third desktop-only computer will be 10 years old.

Then, it makes sense that I will instead buy a new pre-built desktop-only computer with Microsoft Windows 11 Professional 64-bit Norwegian Retail because I have a routine of acquiring a new computer every 10th year.

However, I know I could likely save money by just upgrading. Still, I am NOT a computer user who enjoys using various hardware components without remembering their exact age, and I do NOT have many spare parts.

Nonetheless, there is a chance that Microsoft will eventually release Windows 12, but when that will be is anyone's guess, so it will be essential to consider using the then kind of 4-year-old Windows 11 (or even Windows 12).

I know that Windows 12 still does NOT exist and might never exist either, but that is likely a topic for another discussion because, after all, Windows 11 was a surprise, so maybe Windows 12 will be a surprise, too. :)

Thank you, cryptodan! :)

However, there are two different reasons why I do NOT want to use Linux:

The first one is that I already several years ago tried some Linux distros, such as Ubuntu Linux, Lubuntu Linux, and Kubuntu Linux, but none of them would work at all. :(

And one of them (but unfortunately, I do NOT still remember which one) even displayed an error message that my MSI ATI AMD RADEON R9 390X GAMING 8G Twin Frozr V graphics card is INCOMPATIBLE with Linux. :(

The second one is that I use extremely many Windows-based 3rd-party software, but I do NOT want to resort to using WineHQ. :(

I DO notice that you are using Arch Linux, but just for the record, I am NOT going to try any more Linux distros. :(

Linux has advanced in ways youll never understand. I use Linux as a primary operating system across 2 devices and not once have I ever regretted switching. You only tried one linux and that was Ubuntu hence all the names contain the word Ubuntu.

Your graphics card is very well supported in Linux now with amdgpu.
