Microsoft Launcher Beta for Android is getting a big update today with new features, animations, and other major improvements. If you’ve enrolled as a beta tester you can download the v4.12 update from today via the Play Store.
Microsoft Launcher is no longer available for Android 4.0.x and 4.1 devices, which means that only newer versions of Android are able to install it.
The most notable change is the ability to customize the expanded dock. Folders in the app drawer can now be sorted alphabetically and there is also an option in settings that makes it possible to set your own gestures for the folder and app icon.
You can find the official changelog below:
- Folder and app icon gestures (swipe to open or click to launch).
- Choose how to use the last row of expanded dock: Apps, pinned contacts, folders, search bar or widgets.
- Parents can enable web filtering through the Family card.
- Folders in the app drawer are now sorted alphabetically.
- UI improvements: Animation adjustments; blur effect as an option; App badges in the app drawer.
- Fully support Android O and remove support for 4.0.X and 4.1.
Currently, these changes have only been introduced to beta users of the Microsoft Launcher. As the beta app is quite stable, the public rollout shouldn't be too far off. You can join the beta program here and download the app from the Google Play Store.
